Lauren’s Turkey Black Bean Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 Jalapeno pepper, diced (2, if you like it spicy)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 3 (15 ounce) cans black beans, un-drained
  • 1 (14.5 ounces) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
  • Salt and Pepper

 

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large heavy pot over medium heat, season with salt and pepper; cook onion, garlic and jalapeno until onions are translucent. Add turkey and cook, stirring, until meat is brown. Stir in beans, tomatoes, chili powder, oregano, and basil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 60 minutes or more, until flavors are well blended.
