Sequoia Foodie Fest Saturday 15th May 2010
The members of the Sequoia Foodie Fest Committee are pleased to announce the First Annual Sequoia Foodie Fest will be held on May 15th and 16th at Dobson Field in Exeter, CA. The event starts at 10:00am on Saturday and lasts until 7:00pm and reopens again on Sunday at 10:00 and will remain open until 5:00pm.
For the last two years the Committee has been working on a festival that would showcase Tulare County’s agriculture in a fun, festival-like atmosphere. Last year, the committee hosted a kick-off, sit-down dinner featuring the citrus industry and included art and crafts from local artists and live entertainment.
The Sequoia Foodie Fest promotes the diversity of California’s agricultural commodities. Our theme, ‘California’s Most Delicious Adventure’, showcases local celebrity chefs in cooking demonstrations and contests in Kitchen Stadium throughout the weekend. The festival will also feature local wine, beer and spirits tasting along with food sampling. Enjoy live music and local bands throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Features from our local agricultural commodities, such as life-size citrus sculptures, food Concessionaires and craft vendors will be on display.
The Foodie Fest will also feature a large kid’s area with themed characters, live music by the Jammies, craft booths, bounce house, zip lines, a rock climbing wall, sports competitions and much more.
All proceeds from The Sequoia Foodie Fest will go directly to The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias, an after school program serving over 1,200 kids a day in 10 clubs in Exeter, Farmersville, Porterville and Tipton. Instead of heading home to an empty house, kids can go to a Boys & Girls Club and find friends, fun and success. Boys & Girls Clubs provide programs that expose kids to a wide variety of activities that are designed to be interesting and life changing. Whether it is sculpting in the art room or getting help with homework, our Clubs offer many opportunities.
Danny will be hosting three live sets in the kitchen stadium through out Saturday. 11 am Food Culture for Kids, 3.30pm What’s In Your Basket? 6pm SURPRISE, SURPRISE CHALLENGE!
